Refrigeration Engineer

Subhanjan Bista is a Professional Engineer with expertise in refrigeration, HVAC, and renewable energy systems. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Kathmandu University in Nepal and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Arkansas Tech University.

    Subhanjan joined Benchmark Group in January 2019 as a part-time intern and transitioned to a full-time Refrigeration Designer following graduation. He earned his Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation and later became a licensed Professional Engineer in 2025. His project experience includes Walmart remodels and new stores, Sam’s Club remodels, Target new stores and remodels, Walmart Market Fulfillment Centers (MFCs), and GetGo convenience stores. He has also transitioned into special projects, collaborating directly with clients on one-off initiatives and supporting specialized operational goals. His experience at BG includes design of Traditional DX, Transcritical CO2, liquid overfeed and pumped glycol refrigeration systems, and integrating Building Automation Systems (BAS).

    In his current role, Subhanjan maintains the Walmart Neighborhood Market prototype, working closely with Walmart to develop new design initiatives and implement evolving refrigeration technologies and best practices. He also leads quality control efforts and provides training and mentorship to newly hired designers and EITs.

    Prior to his work at Benchmark Group, his internship experience including working at a company specializing in gas burners, LPG distribution systems, and waste to energy systems. He also worked on refrigeration systems and wind farm layout optimization as part of his Master’s degree research.

    Subhanjan is a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and the Nepal Engineering Council (NEC). He is a registered Engineer in both Nepal and Arkansas.
