The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) just released the annual State Energy Efficiency Scorecard.  The state of Arkansas was ranked 27th, tying Texas, while California and Massachusetts tied for first place.

“Arkansas committed to extend its energy efficiency goals and gained points for state government-led policies, having recently closed its first commercial PACE project.” (*quoted from the ACEEE press release*)

Energy efficiency is valuable, and the state of Arkansas recognizes that.  At Benchmark Group, we recognize it as well.  Our building was the first LEED-certified Silver building in the state of Arkansas, and now we have a team of experts on our Energy Services team that are ready to assist clients with their energy needs, no matter the state.

“For commercial buildings, business owners and managers have the opportunity to be environmental leaders and advocates by limiting overall energy consumption. It is true that energy management adds tasks to your to-do lists, but it is proven to be highly beneficial to the environment and highly beneficial to your return-on-investment,” said Steve Damer, our project coordinator for Energy Services. From the ACEEE’s press release, Steven Nadel, executive director of ACEEE, said: “Governors, legislators, regulators, businesses, and citizens are increasingly recognizing that energy efficiency is a critical state resource that keeps money in the local economy. The past year has been an exciting time for energy efficiency, with several states strengthening efficiency policies and programs. States are spurring efficiency investment through advancements in building energy codes, transportation planning, and leading by example in their own facilities and fleets. These investments reap large benefits, giving businesses, governments, and consumers more control over how and when they use energy.”
